Many of the helpful internet marketers who I’ve discussed in previous posts, often talk about the vital importance of getting back links to your site. After all, making money on the internet is all about traffic and traffic is all about ranking well in the search engines. Getting good backlinks is one of the keys to increasing your ranking in Google and the other search engines.
So what is a backlink? Simply stated, a backlink is a link from any site on the internet, back to your site.
The best back links are links are those that come from sites that have a high Google Page Rank or PR, sometimes referred to as Google Juice. If the site is relevant to your site, that adds some additional weight to the link and links within the body of the content and that are associated with your keywords are more useful that just an http:// type link.
So where do we find these high PR sites and how do we get backlinks to our site from them?
Social sites or Web 2.0 sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Del.icio.us and the like, tend to have a pretty high PR. Del.icio.us for example has a PR of 9! Getting a link back to your site from a PR9 site would be very good for your site, but there are so many of these sites, how do we keep track of it all? Well there are some pretty cool tools out there that can help us out.
A very popular tool that is often recommended to help us quickly get backlinks from these types of sites is called BookMarkingDemon by Edwinsoft. It’s a fantastic tool and it makes the process of getting backlinks from web 2.0 sites very easy (after an initial learning curve) however while it is not prohibitively expensive, it is not free. If you and your internet business are not yet in a position where you can afford BookMarkingDemon then there are some free alternatives available.
So how does it work? Well, it’s pretty easy to use, especially if you are using Firefox, which they recommend, though it does work in other browsers. You simply drag their little bookmarklet tool up to your toolbar, then go to your site, highlight some text to use for your social site submission, and click on the tool button. SocialMarker will read your site, pull in some information like your URL, your Title, the text you highlighted, and it will let you add additional keywords that will be used in each post. It will then guide you from site to site so you can submit your link!
The only problem I encountered initially is that you must have a valid credential on each of the sites. Unlike BookMarkingDemon, SocialMarker doesn’t handle this part for you automatically. The creation of your credentials on each site does take a bit of time to do, after all, it is 47 different sites, but once it’s set up, you can get through your bookmarking to all the sites in about 15 minutes or so.
So what will this accomplish for you? Well, you’ll get some great backlinks from high PR sites, it will definitely increase traffic to your sites, your new sites will get indexed by Google very quickly, sometimes in just a matter of minutes, and your existing sites will get better rankings! And the best part is . . . It’s FREE!
I hope you find this information helpful for your business. Till next time, remember . . . peace and serenity through prosperity!
